HOPE at the Horniman Museum
The Horniman Museum in Forest Hill, which is both renowned and highly popular, has recently started serving cupcakes in their cafe, made by Harris students as part of the HOPE social enterprise.
HOPE, which stands for Helping Other Promoting Enterprise, is a company launched by students at Harris Girls Academy East Dulwich; it aims to produce products of real quality which can then be sold to raise funds for charities and local projects.
The products, which can be found on the , include women’s scarves, men’s handkerchiefs, professional recordings of the Harris choir, and of course the now famous delicious Harris cupcakes.
The fact that The Horniman Museum cafe has chosen to sell the HOPE cupcakes demonstrates their quality. The cafe expects to sell around 200 cakes a week.
Great taste
The cafe’s manager, Anthony Ienco, said that the cupcakes “tasted great with good ingredients, which is crucial because we only serve good quality food.”
Students will now be able to see the results of their work in a real cafe, thereby encouraging them to expand the HOPE project even further, and raising more money for good causes in the process.
The cupcakes and other HOPE products are available to order from the , where it is also possible to make a donation to the enterprise.
