School Musicians Play With The Professionals
A collaboration with the award-winning Multi-Story Orchestra has seen students from 暗网AV play alongside professional musicians for live performances.
Violinists, cellists and percussionists from the school performed side-by-side with the professionals during a performance of a composition by 17th century composer Barbara Strozzi, which took place at Peckham Levels. Members of the school choir also performed a piece called The Endz, working with the orchestra’s members.
“My experience working with the orchestra was amazing,” said Chloe, Year 9. “ I performed at the Peckham Levels twice. At first I was afraid, but then I stepped into the light and shined so bright! It reminded me that it’s okay to come out of your comfort zone.”
There was a special percussion workshop too, which saw students and the orchestra’s percussionists hitting just about every instrument, to make inspiring sounds and rhythms.
Mandy, Year 10, says having the chance to perform with the orchestra has improved her playing too. “I enjoyed performing in front of an audience and seeing what we practiced come to life. My favourite part was seeing how proud our teachers, parents and the Multi-Storey Orchestra were of us, but most importantly how proud we were of ourselves.”
Being asked to collaborate with the Multi-Story Orchestra on three projects has been an amazing opportunity and experience for our students, says music teacher Ms Stewart. “Our musicians showed great drive, resilience and passion, and they did themselves, the academy, their families and the Multi-Story Orchestra proud!”
