Exam results 2012

Following excellent GCSE results in 2011, students are again celebrating more success in 2012.

‘This year’s results show that the remarkable progress in 2011 was not simply a blip but the result of sustained improvements across all subjects,’ said Principal Jane Fletcher.

More students achieved A* and A grades in GSCE exams this year than ever before, with academic subjects such as English, Maths, Science, Art, Statistics, Business Studies and French all achieving results above the national average.

Top achievers

Top achiever was Lois, whose hard work resulted in 11 A* grades. Overall, students are now receiving higher grades than ever before, with nearly 60% of students gaining six or more GSCEs at grades A*, A or B. ‘Our most academic students have every opportunity to really make the most of their talents and this is reflected in their excellent results,’ said Ms Fletcher.

‘When awarding us our ‘Outstanding’ badge in March, Ofsted commented on our “ruthless pursuit of excellence” and everyone at our academy is committed to making sure this progress is sustained and bettered in 2013,’ she added.

5 or more A*-C grades

Every student at our academy leaves equipped with enough good passes to take them on further study or employment.

2012                100%

2011                96%

A level success

Strong A level results saw 68% of students achieve A*-B grades, with an average point score per exam of 242. This means the average grade achieved across all exams taken was equivalent to B – an excellent result.

“On the strength of these results students are going on to study subjects including Law, Psychology, Accountancy and Finance, Sport and Travel and Tourism at universities including Kent, Westminster, St Mary’s and Kingston,” said Kiylee White, Post 16 Manager.
